"Lowering Chuseok Shopping Basket Prices"... Up to 60% Discount on Pollock, Hanwoo Beef, Napa Cabbage, and More

'Chuseok Special Discount Event on Agricultural, Livestock, and Marine Products'

The government will hold a discount event where agricultural, livestock, and fishery products can be purchased at prices up to 60% cheaper to reduce the burden of Chuseok shopping basket prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 30th that they will jointly hold the "Chuseok Agricultural, Livestock, and Fishery Products Discount Festival" from the 31st to September 28 to stabilize consumer prices of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products and promote seafood consumption.

In this event, agricultural, livestock, and fishery products that are more expensive than usual and place a heavy burden on consumer prices, popular fish species such as pollock, mackerel, and squid, as well as 20 major seasonal products for Chuseok, and ritual items such as bracken, bellflower root, abalone, and dried seaweed will be discounted. Consumers can purchase these items at up to 60% off at large supermarkets and online malls.

The event involves 26 large and small supermarkets including E-Mart, Lotte Mart, Homeplus, GS Retail, Suhyup Bada Mart, and Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, as well as 33 online shopping malls such as 11st, Market Kurly, Coupang, Post Office Shopping, Suhyup Shopping, and Namdo Jangteo.

Discount events will also be held at traditional markets. Consumers visiting traditional markets can purchase mobile gift certificates at a 20-30% discount with a limit of 30,000 to 40,000 KRW per person through the Zero Pay app by the Korea Simple Payment Promotion Agency, and use them at Zero Pay agricultural and fishery product affiliated stores within traditional markets. For the elderly who are not familiar with mobile use, a special sale of Zero Pay agricultural discount gift certificates exclusively for those aged 65 and over will be held on September 11. Additionally, from the 21st to the 27th of next month, an on-site refund event will be held at 149 traditional markets, refunding up to 30% of the purchase amount of the day in Onnuri gift certificates.

Meanwhile, starting from the 31st, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to hold ongoing Onnuri gift certificate refund events at 30 markets nationwide, beginning with nine traditional and wholesale markets including Noryangjin, Guri, and Jagalchi, until the end of the year.
