Shipbuilding Job Fair in Ulsan... HD Heavy Industries and Mipo Shipyard to Hire 227 People

Ulsan City, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Dong-gu Jointly

Over 400 Trainees and Vocational High School Job Seekers Participate

A job fair hiring about 220 workers in the shipbuilding industry will be held in Ulsan.


Ulsan City, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Dong-gu District of Ulsan, will hold the "2023 Visiting Ulsan Shipbuilding Job Fair" at 2 p.m. on the 30th at Jeonha Sports Center in Dong-gu to resolve the manpower shortage in the shipbuilding industry and ensure smooth manpower supply and demand.


The fair is expected to be attended by about 400 job seekers in the shipbuilding industry, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and 36 in-house partner companies in the Ulsan area. All 36 companies plan to hire a total of 227 people.


Trainees from vocational training institutions and students from vocational high schools in Busan, Daegu, and other areas will also participate in this fair.


The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will introduce the regional shipbuilding production workforce training project, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor will provide information on various government policies such as shipbuilding employment support projects and benefits available when employed in the shipbuilding industry.


In addition, job-related videos will be screened at the event venue, and related organizations such as the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute will operate promotional booths to help improve awareness of the shipbuilding industry.


Various side events for job seekers, such as healing therapy diagnosis and psychological counseling, personal color consulting, and ID photo shooting, will also be prepared.


Companies and job seekers who are not hired through this fair will continue to receive job matching support through follow-up management at the Ulsan Shipbuilding Leap Center.


An official from Ulsan City said, "To resolve the manpower shortage in the shipbuilding industry, we will focus our capabilities on promoting shipbuilding support projects continuously through policy collaboration between central and local governments and linkage between job projects to increase employment in the region's key industries."


This year, through the Shipbuilding Leap Center and others, Ulsan City is providing focused support worth 11.7 billion KRW for workforce training, worker settlement support, and company support, aiming to employ 1,364 new workers in the shipbuilding industry.
