Pohang City Holds '2024 Provincial Subsidy Securing Report Meeting' On the 29th, Pohang City held the '2024 Provincial Subsidy Securing Report Meeting' in the city hall small conference room, chaired by Vice Mayor Kim Nam-il.

The report meeting was organized to early identify projects requesting provincial subsidies in line with Gyeongbuk Province's budget formulation schedule and to reflect them in next year's budget.

The target projects for securing provincial subsidies in Pohang City for 2024 amount to 15.2 billion KRW across 152 projects, a significant increase from last year's 11.3 billion KRW across 113 projects.

Major new projects include ▲Development of Nampo Pohang Park Golf Course ▲Installation of discharge water pipelines at Pohang Blue Valley National Industrial Complex ▲Construction of arcade in dried seafood street at Jukdo Market ▲Interest subsidy for stabilization funds for fisheries in management crisis ▲Support project for flood prevention facilities (floodgates) ▲Hyperbaric oxygen therapy project ▲Facility improvement of small performance hall at the Culture and Arts Center ▲Replacement construction of Dongbin Bridge at Jukdo Market, totaling 70 projects and 3 billion KRW to be requested.

Ongoing projects to be requested include ▲Creation of a dedicated sports park for recreational athletes ▲Establishment of regional base for steel industry revitalization ▲Support for research and development of secondary battery integrated management center ▲Community job projects ▲Coastal waste collection ▲Improvement of small-scale water facilities ▲Creation of Homibando Forest Welfare Complex ▲Development of eco-friendly ecological theme land, totaling 82 projects and 5.8 billion KRW.

Pohang City plans to supplement the rationale for the projects discussed intensively at this report meeting and actively pursue securing provincial subsidies by frequently visiting Gyeongbuk Province.

In particular, the city intends to fully leverage the advantage of having the largest number of local district assembly members in the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council by ensuring close cooperation and communication to secure provincial subsidies.

Vice Mayor Kim Nam-il stated, “In the era of local decentralization, cooperation between metropolitan and basic local governments is more important than anything else, so we must frequently visit Gyeongbuk Province and engage in communication,” and urged, “Let us do our best to discover projects that citizens can feel and ensure they are reflected in the budget.”
