Musk and Zuckerberg Gather in One Place... Attending AI Forum Next Month

Chuck Schumer, Democratic Senate Leader, to Host Event on the 13th Next Month
"Bill Gates, Jensen Huang, Sam Altman, and Others to Attend"

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who promoted the "Fight of the Century," and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, are set to draw attention by attending the AI Future Forum held next month at the U.S. Congress simultaneously. Since this will be their first face-to-face meeting following the recent controversy over their proposed fight, there is keen interest in what kind of exchange will take place.

According to Bloomberg and Axios on the 28th (local time), Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate Democrats, will hold a private AI Future Forum on the 13th of next month. The event will be attended by CEO Musk and CEO Zuckerberg. Also expected to attend are Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google; Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft (MS); Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft; Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia; Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google; and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

This event is particularly noteworthy because CEO Musk and CEO Zuckerberg are expected to attend together. The two have been engaged in a debate about holding an actual fight since June until earlier this month. Musk first issued the challenge, which Zuckerberg accepted, causing a global stir over the prospect of a billionaire "Fight of the Century." The Colosseum in Rome, Italy, was even mentioned as a potential venue, and the UFC also stepped in to fuel interest.

However, on the 6th, Musk revealed that he underwent MRI scans of his neck and upper back and might need surgery before the fight, effectively putting the bout on hold. Musk stated he could recover within a few months, but afterward, Zuckerberg expressed skepticism about whether Musk was truly willing to fight, casting doubt on the fight's realization.

Meanwhile, this event is the first forum prepared by Majority Leader Schumer to enable Congress to exert influence as AI rapidly integrates into work and daily life. In a speech last June, Schumer stated that Congress must begin preparations for AI regulation.

Leaders in the AI industry are also voicing the need for protective measures to prevent negative impacts of AI on jobs and national security.
