Seocho-gu has created a platform for eco-friendly social welfare to protect the daily lives of vulnerable groups from rapid climate change.

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold a commemorative ceremony and a welfare and eco-friendly expo at the Seocho-gu Office Plaza and auditorium on September 7th to mark the 24th Social Welfare Day.

This event, themed "Seocho Welfare, Adding Welfare and Environment to Residents' Lives," is a resident-participatory welfare expo organized through public-private cooperation, including the Seocho-gu Community Security Council and private social welfare facility workers.

Especially this year, various experience and promotional booths have been set up to raise residents' environmental sensitivity and increase interest and participation in eco-friendly social welfare through the introduction of the latest welfare services.

At the plaza of the district office from 10 a.m., 24 public and private welfare institutions in the area will participate, preparing various eco-friendly experiential activities that can be practiced in daily life.

First, the 'Good Seocho Coin & Seocho Nubidan' information booth introduces a project where points are accumulated through recycling and volunteering, which can be used directly or donated to help neighbors in need, continuing a virtuous cycle of environmental protection and positive influence with residents.

Experiences include ▲making natural ingredient hand-pressed soap, shampoo bars, and deodorants ▲‘Cotton Candy Bicycle’ using a bicycle generator ▲‘Upcycling’ using sock yarn ▲environmental quizzes, allowing everyone to enjoy diverse carbon neutrality (green environment) experiences. Environmental performance shows, magic shows, and an exhibition of carbon neutrality environmental contest works (paintings, poems) will also be held to raise awareness of the preciousness of the Earth’s environment.

Also, in one corner of the plaza, health booths will be set up, including ‘Smart Healthcare’ using smart devices for exercise prescriptions and a family dementia prevention roulette quiz.

Additionally, the community will add more fun with a ‘Happiness Sharing Bazaar’ where clothing and daily necessities are sold to support vulnerable groups. Companies such as Sajo Daelim, Suji Logistics, Adonize, Domino’s Pizza, Medica Korea, along with the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest and the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association, will sponsor coffee food trucks, pizza, supplements, and more.

From 10 a.m., the 2nd-floor auditorium will host a commemorative ceremony starting with a performance by the young vocal team ‘Benny & Friends,’ followed by ▲awards for social welfare contributors ▲presentation of major achievements by contributors through video.

The district expects this event to enhance residents’ understanding of various welfare projects, including environmental initiatives implemented by the district, and to provide practical help by guiding customized welfare services as needed.

Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “Taking this social welfare expo as an opportunity, we will promote Seocho welfare and eco-friendly policies and actively pursue resident-centered welfare policies that can protect marginalized groups from climate change in the future.”
