Dobong District Mayor Oh Eon-seok Holds Countermeasure Meeting with Dobong Police Station to Discuss Response Plans for Indiscriminate Crimes
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is making every effort to eliminate safety blind spots exposed to indiscriminate crimes and to establish a safety net for residents.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) recently held a countermeasure meeting on indiscriminate crimes on the morning of the 28th, chaired by the Dobong-gu mayor, with related organizations such as Dobong Police Station and Bukhansan National Park Office participating to strengthen responses to the recent series of "abnormal motive crimes."
This meeting was held to discuss department-specific response plans and gather opinions from related organizations to prepare a more detailed and systematic comprehensive countermeasure. Previously, on the 23rd, the district shared proactive response measures such as focused management plans for reclusive case management targets at the Seoul City-District Emergency Meeting held at Seoul City Hall.
First, the district will conduct a full survey of security-vulnerable areas such as places without CCTV installation, expand the application of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and improve the illumination of security lights. In addition, to supplement the limitations of visual monitoring, the installation of intelligent CCTV will be expanded, and safety will be secured in parks and hiking trails through the operation of park safety patrol teams and drone patrols.
Since indiscriminate crimes are issues that require the community to unite in response, a joint patrol system involving civilians, government, and police will be established, mobilizing all human and material resources in the area. Patrols will be strengthened not only in alleys and walking paths but also in places with many users such as traditional markets and large distribution centers, and self-defense training and rental of self-defense items will be provided to residents.
To guide crime prevention behavior, the district will comprehensively promote through district news text messages and various promotional media, and in case of victimization, multifaceted support will be provided, including emergency welfare support and legal counseling.
Along with this, the district plans to establish a Life Safety Team to implement substantial countermeasures. However, until the dedicated team is established, a related task force will be operated to minimize any gaps.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said on the day, "Recently, indiscriminate crimes such as knife rampages have occurred continuously regardless of location, causing very high anxiety among residents. We will be even more vigilant and make every effort to eliminate safety blind spots, and through cooperation with related organizations, we will build a safety net for residents for a 'Safe and Secure Dobong City.'"
