Achieved '10,000 Responsible Party Members'... Aiming to Win at Least One Seat in the General Election
"Will Break Free from Political Structure and Lead Regional Development in Cooperation with the City"
Joo Ki-hwan, chairman of the People Power Party's Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee, expressed his ambition to open an era of 20,000 responsible party members in the Gwangju City Party before next year's general election.
Marking one month since his inauguration, Chairman Joo said on the 28th, "The People Power Party's Gwangju City Party will do its utmost to lead Gwangju's economic development and be reborn as a new force recognized as a true conservative."
He continued, "We have exceeded the goal of 10,000 responsible party members within just one month of taking office," emphasizing, "We will strive to establish ourselves as an alternative party leading Gwangju's development and as a check on the Democratic Party by securing support not only from the existing base but also from the younger generation."
Furthermore, he stated, "The People Power Party's Gwangju City Party will take the lead in resolving Gwangju's current issues and garnering public consensus," adding, "Based on this, we will achieve meaningful approval ratings in the upcoming 2024 general election and secure at least one constituency seat."
He also said, "By serving as a bridge between the central party and the Presidential Office, accelerating regional development and uniting the support base and public sentiment cultivated through the last presidential and local elections to produce elected candidates in next year's general election is our top priority," and requested, "We ask for your support and encouragement."
He pledged to make every effort to alleviate the political entry barriers faced by the struggling younger generation while preventing regional neglect.
Chairman Joo emphasized, "We will actively discover political newcomers who can lead the future Gwangju City Party," and added, "We will create opportunities to discuss and deliberate on local issues and development by jointly considering problems and solutions."
He concluded, "As I serve my second year as the city party chairman under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, I feel that my role and responsibility to oversee regional development and the general election have grown," adding, "I will break away from Gwangju's political structure and take the lead in regional development through active cooperation with Gwangju City."
