Live Band Jazz Performance Unfolding at Cheoneunsa Healing Space
Cheoneunsa Temple in Gurye, Jeollanam-do (Head Monk Daejin) announced that it will hold an autumn concert titled ‘Fall in love jazz’ on September 9th at the outdoor stage of Cheoneunsa.
The Cheoneunsa autumn concert ‘Fall in love jazz’ features Dutch trumpet jazz musician Jup van Lijn as the lead, along with jazz artists Shin Myungseop, Lim Chaeseon, Lim Daeseop, Kim Youngjin, Paco Dejin, who have been active in numerous domestic and international jazz festivals, as well as jazz vocalists Yangji and Moon Mihyang.
The concert will present original songs that blend the charm of classics with contemporary sophistication, such as the refreshing and profound ‘Moon River,’ ‘I love Paris,’ ‘Rainy Gomoryeong,’ and ‘Water Mist,’ fitting for the autumn nights embraced by Jirisan at Cheoneunsa.
Cheoneunsa has been organizing regular concerts and tidying the temple grounds to serve as a sanctuary where those weary from the hardships of life can rest even for a moment. This includes the exploration trail called the Path of Coexistence that circles Cheoneu Reservoir, and recently, night lighting has been installed around Suhongru Pavilion within the temple grounds to allow visitors to tour Cheoneunsa even at night.
Head Monk Daejin of Cheoneunsa said, “We hope this jazz performance, planned with gratitude for everyone connected to Cheoneunsa, will offer a small comfort to those physically and mentally exhausted.” He added, “Cheoneunsa aims to continue developing as a place of practice for Buddha’s teachings and as a cultural and healing space that coexists with the public.”
