Establishing 'Sinan Gimbap' as K-FOOD
Jeonnam Sinan-gun (Governor Park Woo-ryang) will hold the Sinan Gimbap Festa and Gimbap Competition at 1004 Museum Park in Jaeun-myeon on October 20.
Gimbap is known as a representative popular Korean dish, along with bulgogi, favored by people worldwide.
According to the county on the 28th, through this festival and competition, they plan to promote rice consumption and widely publicize Sinan’s excellent agricultural and marine specialties such as spinach, seaweed, and shrimp, as well as establish ‘Sinan Gimbap’ as K-FOOD.
The cooking competition will be held in preliminary and final rounds, with the theme of ‘Sinan Gimbap’ using domestic rice and Sinan’s agricultural and marine specialties. The preliminary round will accept applications from 100 teams until the 21st of next month, and 20 teams (10 general teams and 10 student teams) will be selected through document screening to advance to the finals, which will be held on the festival opening day.
Anyone who is a citizen of the Republic of Korea can participate. To apply, check the competition guidelines on the Sinan-gun website’s public notice section, download the application form, fill it out, and submit it via email, mail, or in person. In the awards, one grand prize team will receive the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award; four excellence award teams will receive awards from the Jeonnam Governor, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, and Rural Development Administration Commissioner; six outstanding award teams will receive the Sinan-gun Governor Award; and nine encouragement award teams will receive the Promotion Committee Chair Award.
Meanwhile, the county plans to hold the ‘1st Sinan Gimbap Festa,’ a gimbap festival featuring domestic rice and local agricultural and marine specialties, for three days from October 20 to 22, marking the first such event hosted by a local government.
