[Special Stock] DA Tech Achieves World-Class Permanent Magnets with Domestic Technology... Replacing Rare Earth Permanent Magnets

The stock price of DA Technology is on the rise. The news that it has succeeded in achieving the world's best magnetic properties of the 'Manganese-Bismuth (Mn-Bi)' alloy through new process development with Corisen appears to be influencing the stock price. Mn-Bi permanent magnets are magnets that do not use rare earth elements. They outperform ferrite magnets, which are known as representative non-rare-earth permanent magnets, and their greatest strength is maintaining magnetic characteristics even at high temperatures.

As of 2:17 PM on the 28th, DA Technology is trading at 4,990 KRW, up 13.02% from the previous trading day.

According to the Korea Institute of Materials Science, Mn-Bi alloy powder and bulk recorded a world-class maximum energy product (BHmax) value of 14.4 MGOe. The theoretical maximum energy product value of Mn-Bi ferrite is about 16 to 17 MGOe, and DA Technology and Corisen achieved approximately 89% of the theoretical figure. Based on these results, they are conducting collaborative projects with domestic automakers.

The maximum energy product (BHmax) indicates the strength (magnetism) of a permanent magnet, and when operating at the maximum energy product, it has the highest efficiency relative to energy density. Fundamentally, Mn-Bi permanent magnets have superior high-temperature characteristics compared to existing Nd (Neodymium) magnets and typical ferrite magnets, making them suitable for high-speed rotation or high-temperature use.

DA Technology expects that, having secured manufacturing capabilities for upgraded Mn-Bi alloy powder through new process development in addition to the unique properties of Mn-Bi ferrite, it will be able to replace not only rare-earth permanent magnets but also existing ferrite magnets.

A company official stated, "Having developed a new process and confirmed the world's highest level of Mn-Bi ferrite maximum energy product, we expect that this result will accelerate not only collaborative projects but also supply negotiations." He added, "Ferrite magnets are currently expanding beyond electronics and home appliances into various industries such as automotive, military, and defense, so we plan to sequentially target fields where rapid application is possible."

On a consolidated basis, DA Technology recorded sales of 58.5 billion KRW in the first half of this year, a 166.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating loss was recorded at 20.4 billion KRW.
