The 2023 Saseon Cultural Festival, a representative local cultural festival of Jeonbuk, will be held for three days from the 1st to the 3rd of next month at the Saseondae area, starting with the Bountiful Harvest Parade performance on the 31st.
According to the county on the 28th, the Saseon Cultural Festival is a local festival of Imsil-gun that has been ongoing for over 30 years, based on the legend of the Sasinseon and Sasin-nyeo who played at Saseondae.

Along with the 37th National Saseon-nyeo Selection Contest, various events will be held, including the National Nongak Competition hosted by the Intangible Cultural Property Pilbong Nongak, the Sochung·Saseon Cultural Award ceremony, a local food contest using Imsil’s specialty chili peppers and cheese, the 30th Saseon Song Festival, the 1st National Shinsen Janggi Tournament, and celebratory performances.
On the first day of the event, the 1st, the Shinwije ritual honoring the Sasinseon-nyeo will lead the program, followed by a local food contest using Imsil specialties and the preliminary round of the 37th National Saseon-nyeo Selection Contest.
On the second day, the finals of the National Saseon-nyeo Selection Contest will be held, along with the 30th Saseon Song Festival where amateur singers will showcase their honed skills.
On the last day, the National Nongak Competition competing for the Speaker of the National Assembly Award will take place, followed by the 1st National Shinsen Janggi Tournament and the Sochung·Saseon Cultural Award ceremony.
Additionally, the celebratory performances, hosted by comedian Lee Yong-sik, will feature 10 singers including Jang Min-ho, Kim Seong-hwan, Hyun-sook, Jang Young-woo, and Lady T to enliven the atmosphere.
Especially this year, in cooperation with the Korea Janggi Federation, the 1st Saseon Cultural Festival Cup National Shinsen Janggi Tournament will be held.
The tournament format will be divided into general and senior divisions for matches, and this event will also be broadcast on Brain TV, a specialized Janggi channel.
Yang Young-du, chairman of the Saseon Cultural Festival Organizing Committee, said, “We hope many people will come and enjoy their time at the Saseon Cultural Festival held at Saseondae, where the beautiful legend of the Sasinseon-nyeo is enshrined.”
County Governor Shim Min said, “The local festival, Saseon Cultural Festival, will be held again this year at the Saseondae area,” adding, “We look forward to everyone taking home wonderful romance and memories at Saseondae, where the autumn colors are deepening.”
