Ko Jin-young Runner-up "Regretful, Mistake on Tee Shot in Playoff"

CPKC Women's Open FR 3 Under Par 'Playoff Defeat'
Kang Cheers First Career Win Since 2016 Debut
Lin Ning 3rd, Kim Sei-young 4th, Jeon In-ji 8th

It was a disappointing runner-up finish for Ko Jin-young.

On the 27th (local time), at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club (par 72, 6,685 yards) in Vancouver, Canada, Ko shot 3-under par in the final round of the LPGA Tour CPKC Women's Open (total prize money $2.5 million), tying with Megan Kang (USA) at 9-under par 279. However, she collapsed with a double bogey on the first hole of the playoff at the 18th hole (par 4). She missed out on her third win of the season and 16th career victory since the Cognizant Founders Cup in May.

Starting from third place, 5 strokes behind, Ko Jin-young made 4 birdies (1 bogey). She reduced 2 strokes in the front nine with birdies on the 1st hole (par 5) and the 9th hole (par 4). After a brief pause with a bogey on the 11th hole (par 5), she climbed to a tie for the lead with stepping-stone birdies on the 14th and 16th holes. Ko took a one-stroke lead when Kang bogeyed the 17th hole (par 3), and although she missed the green on the final 18th hole, she made a brilliant par save to force a playoff. However, her tee shot went into the left woods, leading to a disappointing failure to secure the victory.

Kang, who was leading by 3 strokes the previous day, earned her first career win since her debut in 2016. She revived herself with a birdie on the 18th hole and completed the 'winning par' in the playoff. The winner's prize money was $375,000 (approximately 500 million KRW). Lin Ying (China) surged to third place (7-under par 218) with a daily best 6-under par round. Kim Sei-young, who was looking for a comeback opportunity, fell to a tie for fourth place (6-under par 219) after shooting 2-over par. South Korea finished the tournament with Jeon Ji-in tied for 8th place (4-under par 284), Lee Jeong-eun 5 tied for 11th place (3-under par 285), and Lee Mi-hyang tied for 13th place (2-under par 286).
