Seoul's Seocho-gu, Jongno-gu, Seongdong-gu, Songpa-gu Prepare Small Autumn Festivals One After Another
It seems autumn is coming.
Seoul's autonomous districts have also prepared small festivals to welcome autumn. These are not large-scale autumn festivals, but events where families and couples can enjoy modest happiness together.
Seocho-gu will hold the ‘Seorae Concert,’ featuring musical music and performance shows, on the 31st at the Banpo 4-dong Community Center Seorae Art Hall. Notably, this ‘Seorae Concert’ is a music event where you can enjoy various musical performances similar to Broadway musicals right in front of your home. Since 2014, it has been organized by the Banpo 4-dong Residents’ Autonomous Committee to make the exotic Seorae Village a more distinctive cultural village.
Jongno-gu will hold 'Paulownia Tree Root and Peach Petals' from September 1 to 20 at Mugaewon (2 Changuimun-ro 5ga-gil), a traditional cultural space in the city center. This is the first international contemporary art exhibition since Mugaewon opened, focusing on showcasing the unique charm created by traditional hanok architecture and contemporary art to cultural and art professionals and art enthusiasts visiting Korea during the Frieze period.
Seongdong-gu will host the ‘8th Seoul Forest Healing Film Festival’ at 7:30 PM on September 1 and 2 at the outdoor stage in Seoul Forest, a natural urban space. Since its first event in 2014, the Seoul Forest Healing Film Festival has become a representative event of summer nights in Seongdong-gu, continuously loved by residents. On September 1, the festival will start with the movie ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie,’ released this April, and on the 2nd, it will screen the musical film ‘Sing 2,’ which fits well with the atmosphere of Seoul Forest.
Songpa-gu will hold the ‘Songpa Night Market’ on September 1, 2, and 8 at Seokchon Market and Pungnap Market, creating a space where residents and merchants coexist. Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the district plans to revitalize traditional markets by organizing a festival-style night market where local residents, merchants, and customers can enjoy and heal together.
Jung-gu will hold a dried seafood and beer festival on September 1 from 6:30 PM to 9 PM, combining dried seafood, the main product of Jungbu and Shinjungbu Markets, with beer, the best beverage to accompany it. From 6:30 PM to 9 PM on September 1, seats will be set up around Gate 1 of Jungbu and Shinjungbu Markets to welcome guests. The merchants’ association plans to sell snacks such as dried filefish, dried pollack, and nuts in small, affordable packages. This year, they have planned a more environmentally conscious beer festival and prepared 1,000 reusable beer cups.
Nowon-gu will hold the ‘2023 Gyeongchun Line Forest Autumn Concert’ on September 9 at Seoul National University of Science and Technology. The ‘Gyeongchun Line Forest Autumn Concert’ is a representative outdoor music event held annually in September at Hwarangdae Railroad Park to offer residents the autumn night atmosphere and opportunities to enjoy various music genres. The 5th edition of the 2023 Gyeongchun Line Forest Autumn Concert will be held at Seoul National University of Science and Technology on September 9 to commemorate the Army Academy-Nowon-gu Friendship Day.
A Seoul city autonomous district official said, "Autumn is naturally the season of festivals, and it seems that Seoul’s autonomous districts have prepared small festivals in step with this."
