Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province recently submitted the third supplementary budget proposal to the city council, increasing the budget by a total of 157.5 billion KRW, including 7 billion KRW for the demolition of the pedestrian section of the Tancheon Bridge. As a result, the total budget size of Seongnam City will increase by 3.81% to 4.2982 trillion KRW.
The supplementary budget proposal will be reviewed at the city council meeting held from the 11th to the 19th of next month.
The increased budget will be used for ▲ demolition work of the pedestrian section of Tancheon Bridge (7 billion KRW) ▲ detailed safety inspections and assessment services for structures and bridges over 20 years old (3.9 billion KRW) ▲ repair and reinforcement work based on inspection results of five bridges including Naejeonggyo Bridge (900 million KRW), among others.
Additionally, in response to the recent rise in violent crimes such as the stabbing incident in Bundang, 50 million KRW has been allocated for economic support projects for crime victims.
Other budget items include 200 million KRW for a preliminary feasibility study on the extension of Subway Line 8 to Pangyo, 900 million KRW for the operation and management of Geumgok Park National Sports Center, 1.6 billion KRW for relocating and rebuilding the Seongnam City Memorial Tower, 3 billion KRW for the construction of a landmark at Hope Grand Park, and 600 million KRW for the construction of the Jeongja-dong Children’s Complex Cultural Center.
A Seongnam City official stated, "We will promptly execute the project budget to ensure the safety of the Tancheon Bridge and urgently allocate funds to support victims of the Bundang stabbing incident and other citizen safety measures."
