'Concrete Utopia' Ranks 2nd at the Box Office
Director Christopher Nolan's film 'Oppenheimer' maintained its box office top position for the second consecutive week.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office system on the 28th, 'Oppenheimer' attracted 437,732 viewers over the weekend (25th-27th), securing the number one spot at the box office. Since its release on the 15th, it has drawn a cumulative audience of 2,323,504.
In second place was 'Concrete Utopia' (directed by Um Tae-hwa), starring Lee Byung-hun, which attracted 297,867 viewers. Since its release on the 9th, the film has been seen by 3,299,614 people.
The comic romance 'Daljjakjigeunhae: 7510' (directed by Lee Han), starring Yoo Hae-jin and Kim Hee-sun, followed in third place with 236,680 viewers. Since its release on the 15th, it has accumulated 846,293 viewers.
'Smugglers', directed by Ryu Seung-wan and released on the 26th of last month, attracted 101,065 viewers, ranking fourth. Thanks to steady success, the film has surpassed its break-even point with a cumulative audience of 4,964,399.
Disney Pixar's animation 'Elemental' added 92,062 viewers to claim fifth place, surpassing a cumulative total of 7,038,822 viewers.
The film was released on June 14th and steadily attracted audiences through word of mouth. In its 11th week since release, it became the second animation in four years, after 'Frozen 2' (2019), to surpass the 7 million viewer mark.
Sixth place went to 'Maya 3: Crisis in the Forest Kingdom', seventh to 'Megalodon 2', and eighth to 'Mission: Impossible ? Dead Reckoning Part One'.
The total number of moviegoers visiting theaters over the weekend was recorded at 1,273,280.
