Government Service Online Portal Becomes Easier and More Convenient

Improving Public Web and App User Environment/Experience

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 28th that it will actively promote the ‘Public Web/App User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Innovation’ by developing a usability-verified design guide according to the ‘Digital Platform Government Implementation Plan’ confirmed by the Digital Platform Government Committee, and applying it to integrated online portals such as Government24, Bokjiro, National Health Insurance, and other representative websites.

‘Public Web/App User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Innovation’ is a project aimed at enabling citizens to use public digital services easily and conveniently. It is a core task of the ‘Digital Platform Government Implementation Plan’ and has been selected as a ‘National Dream Leading Project.’

Until now, citizens had to visit multiple sites repeatedly to find and apply for or use related services because they could not resolve the public services they needed in daily life at once. In response, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated that through UI/UX innovation, it will develop and apply a government-wide public service design guide with verified usability to establish the identity of government services and provide public services to users more easily and conveniently.

The design guide developed through this innovation will be applied first not only to ‘Government24’ but also to representative websites frequently used by citizens such as Bokjiro, National Health Insurance, the National Library of Korea, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s website. Additionally, to create web and app services that citizens can use more easily and conveniently, a ‘Citizen Evaluation Group’ will be operated, where citizens directly use public websites and evaluate their usability.

Meanwhile, on the 29th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will hold a ‘UI/UX Innovation Kick-off Meeting’ together with the Digital Platform Government Committee and related ministries.

Seo Boram, Director of the Digital Government Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “Public web and apps are the gateway through which citizens encounter the Digital Platform Government,” adding, “We will speedily promote UI/UX innovation efforts that make the changing Digital Platform Government tangible in citizens’ daily lives by providing an easy and convenient user interface and experience for everyone.”
