"Combed Daughter's Hair in the Garden to Live with Head Lice in the Garden"
A story has emerged about parents who neglected their 7-year-old daughter's head lice because they are vegetarians.
According to a recent report by the New York Post, an Australian woman named A claimed that a girl living next door was suffering due to her vegan mother.
Vegans are vegetarians who completely avoid foods derived from animals such as meat, fish, eggs, milk, and honey. They consume only plant-based foods like vegetables, fruits, grains, and seaweed.
A said that one day when the girl B, who is the same age as her 7-year-old daughter, came over to play, she noticed B scratching her head. The child was scratching so hard that it caused bleeding.
Upon checking B's head, A was shocked. Head lice and nits (lice eggs) were crawling between the child's hair.
A immediately informed B's mother about her daughter's condition, but she responded nonchalantly, saying, "I already know." She said, "Vegans do not kill living things. I didn’t want to harm them, so I just left it," admitting she was aware of her daughter's condition but neglected it.
She also said that her daughter's head lice fall into the garden and live there, and sometimes she combs her daughter's hair in the garden. A explained that she was left speechless by such an absurd answer.
While respecting the neighbor family's beliefs, A expressed, "I do not want my daughter to catch lice."
An expert advised, "Head lice cannot survive in the garden. It is actually a foolish act that slowly leads to a painful death," and recommended, "For the sake of both children, they should remove the lice even if it means playing 'hairdresser'."
Head lice are insects that lay eggs and parasitize human hair, feeding on the blood of the scalp. They are about 2 to 4 mm in size.
