Jeon Yeo-ok: "'Contaminated Water Protest' Singer Kim Yuna, Are Moon Jae-in and Cheongsan Gyuri Role Models?"

"Filmed a Mukbang in Japan in 2016..."

Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok questioned singer Kim Yoon-ah, who expressed despair over the discharge of contaminated water from Japan's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, asking, "Is 'Cheongsan Gyuri 2nd edition' your role model?"

Kim Yoon-ah, the vocalist of the group Jaurim, posted an image with the phrase "RIP 地球 (Earth)" on social media on the 24th, writing, "For the past few days, I have been engulfed in anger. The dystopia of Blade Runner + 4 years is beginning to become reality. The radioactive rain does not stop, and the light does not come through?like the scenery of LA in the movie. On a day like today, I think about hell."

On the 24th, Kim Yuna posted a photo on her Instagram with the words "RIP (Rest in peace) Earth (地球)" and wrote, "I have been engulfed in anger for the past few days." She continued, "Blade Runner + 4 years, the cinematic dystopia is beginning to become reality."

In response, former lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok wrote on her blog on the 25th, "Kim Yoon-ah was enraged, calling the Fukushima treated water discharge 'hell,'" and criticized, "She says she has been engulfed in anger for days, but that doesn't make sense. She should have been angry since the Fukushima accident in 2011."

She added, "During the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident, 'untreated contaminated water' was discharged, but this time it is 'treated water.'"

She then mocked Kim Yoon-ah by pointing out that in 2016, Kim appeared on the cable TV show Olive TV's 'One Night Food Trip,' sharing a scene of eating herring soba in Osaka, Japan, saying, "In 2016 and 2019, Kim Yoon-ah was an excellent 'Japanese mukbanger.'"

She continued, "The Moon Jae-in administration released a government task force report on October 15, 2020, stating 'There is no problem with Fukushima,' yet the former President Moon recently posted on social media opposing the Fukushima discharge," and questioned, "Is the Moon from 2020 the same person as in 2023? Is the 2016 'Japanese mukbanger Kim Yoon-ah' the same person as the 2023 'Fukushima hell Kim Yoon-ah'?"

'Cheongsan Gyuri' refers to actress Kim Gyuri, who attended the 2008 candlelight protest against mad cow disease in U.S. beef and said, "I'd rather put cyanide in my mouth than eat American beef," coining the term.

Former lawmaker Jeon argued that the problem is not Japan but China. She wrote, "The problem is that China is more serious. The tritium from Chinese nuclear power plants, which is discharged recklessly without treatment, is 50 times that of Fukushima."
