Geumcheon-gu Hosts Free Theater Performance 'Traveling Troupe on the Move'

Free Performances of 5 Outstanding Plays Held at Geumcheon Culture Center from September 2 to November 18

Geumcheon-gu Hosts Free Theater Performance 'Traveling Troupe on the Move'

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that from September 2 to November 18, five outstanding plays selected through a Seoul city public contest will be presented free of charge to residents at the Geumcheon Cultural Center.

The "Traveling Theater Troupe" is a project promoted by Seoul City since 2015 to popularize theater and provide local residents with opportunities to enjoy artistic performances.

The works include ▲ "Paran Pi" (Performance Research Institute Tamgu Saenghwal, 9.2.~3.) ▲ "5hosil-ui Godeungeo" (Creative Group Oneuldo Bom, 9.9.~10.) ▲ "Kim I Bak Choi Gijun" (Theater Company Pisache, 9.16.) ▲ "Dukkeopa Dukkeopa" (Creative Group Gio, 10.21.) ▲ "Bap-eul Meokda" (Dalpaengi Jupasu, 11.18.), totaling five plays.

"Paran Pi" addresses our attitude toward resolving problems caused by violence, while "5hosil-ui Godeungeo" satirizes social issues through allegorical characters such as trees, mackerel, and bears. "Kim I Bak Choi Gijun" helps the audience explore various ways for individual and social development. "Dukkeopa Dukkeopa" deals with conflicts between youth and older generations and fears of standing on their own, and "Bap-eul Meokda" reflects on the meaning of family and shows how beautiful life is.

Residents wishing to attend can apply by calling the Geumcheon Cultural Center. They can also book tickets via Naver or apply in person on the day of the performance at the basement first floor performance hall of Geumcheon Cultural Center (61, Siheung-daero 38-gil).

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Through this performance, we have provided opportunities for theater artists to engage in creative activities and for residents to easily enjoy various theatrical works," adding, "We hope this will be an opportunity for residents to become more familiar with theater."
