The first performance since the reopening will feature dazzling traditional gugak and arts performances that make shoulders sway, including “Gugak Orchestra Hwarang,” “Simcheongga,” “Janggu Dance,” “Hoesimgok,” folk songs “Sinbaetnorae” and “East Sea,” and “Pangut,” adding yeonhui (traditional performance arts).

On the 2nd of next month, there will be performances by masters and famous singers such as “25-string Gayageum Concerto,” “Yanggeum Solo,” “Sugungga,” “Yanggeum Sinawi,” and “Samulnori Concerto Maesanyang,” along with exciting Samulnori (traditional percussion quartet).

The Naju Municipal Gugak Orchestra was established in 2016 with the goal of realizing a cultural happiness city where citizens can enjoy culture and arts closely in their daily lives.

Led by Artistic Director Yoon Jong-ho, the Municipal Gugak Orchestra is promoting this year’s Pungnyu Yeoljeon along with 34 occasional performances at various commemorative ceremonies and events, and three outreach performances (at Jeollanam-do Forest Resources Research Institute, National Naju Hospital, and Bitgaram-dong Raon Elementary School).

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Naju Pungnyu Yeoljeon, the city’s representative traditional cultural content, adds to the joy of traveling in the historic cultural city of Naju with diverse attractions and high-quality gugak performances,” and added, “We hope you experience the essence of Naju’s tourism charm through the weekend performances.”
