With about seven months remaining until next year's general election, a public opinion poll showed that the opposition party is strong in the metropolitan area. In the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) region, the People Power Party leads, while in the Chungcheong region, the Democratic Party of Korea is dominant.


According to a public opinion poll (commissioned by News Tomato) released by Media Tomato on the 24th, the metropolitan area sentiment for next year's general election (survey conducted from the 19th to 20th, targeting 1,017 men and women aged 18 and over) showed the Democratic Party leading. In the entire metropolitan area, the Democratic Party received 46.9% support, surpassing the People Power Party's 34.7% by a margin outside the margin of error (±3.1%).

Looking at the regions, the Democratic Party received 53.0% and 50.2% in Gyeonggi and Incheon respectively, ahead of the People Power Party (Gyeonggi 32.3%, Incheon 31.4%). However, in Seoul, the People Power Party led with 39.2%, compared to the Democratic Party's 37.3%. In the last general election, the Democratic Party won 103 seats in the metropolitan area, the People Power Party's predecessor, the United Future Party, won 16 seats, the Justice Party won 1 seat, and an independent candidate won 1 seat.


In the Chungcheong region, another key casting vote area for the general election (survey conducted from the 12th to 13th, targeting 1,012 men and women aged 18 and over), the Democratic Party led with 44.3%, ahead of the People Power Party's 33.8% beyond the margin of error (±3.1%). The Democratic Party received 44.1% in Daejeon, 41.8% in Chungnam, and 47.9% in Chungbuk. The People Power Party was recorded at 32.6% in Daejeon, 37.6% in Chungnam, and 30.5% in Chungbuk.


According to a survey in Gangwon Province and Jeju Island (conducted from the 5th to 6th, targeting 1,019 men and women aged 18 and over), the People Power Party leads in Gangwon, while the Democratic Party is dominant in Jeju. In Gangwon, the People Power Party received 43.0%, ahead of the Democratic Party's 36.3%. In Jeju, the Democratic Party led with 45.5%, surpassing the People Power Party's 36.4%.


In the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region (survey conducted from the 19th to 20th, targeting 1,013 men and women aged 18 and over), the People Power Party showed a lead with 44.4%, ahead of the Democratic Party's 34.1% beyond the margin of error (±3.1%). The People Power Party received 44.9% in Busan, 37.2% in Ulsan, and 46.2% in Gyeongnam. The Democratic Party received 33.6% in Busan, 35.4% in Ulsan, and 34.1% in Gyeongnam.


In Daegu-Gyeongbuk and Honam, the People Power Party and the Democratic Party each held absolute dominance. In the Daegu-Gyeongbuk survey (conducted from the 12th to 13th, targeting 1,025 men and women aged 18 and over), the People Power Party received 51.6%, far ahead of the Democratic Party's 25.3%. Regionally, the People Power Party received 51.6% in Daegu and 51.7% in Gyeongbuk. The Democratic Party received only 24.9% in Daegu and 25.7% in Gyeongbuk. In the Honam survey (conducted from the 12th to 13th, targeting 1,022 men and women aged 18 and over), the Democratic Party led with 60.9%, far ahead of the People Power Party's 11.0%. Regionally, the Democratic Party received 55.8% in Gwangju, 62.6% in Jeonbuk, and 63.0% in Jeonnam. The People Power Party received 8.6% in Gwangju, 14.2% in Jeonbuk, and 9.8% in Jeonnam.

This poll is not a regular nationwide survey conducted on about 1,000 people, but rather a survey conducted on about 1,000 people in each of the six major regions, allowing for a more detailed look at regional public sentiment.
