On the 24th, the People Power Party pointed out that the Democratic Party of Korea is producing fake news related to the Fukushima nuclear power plant contaminated water to protect leader Lee Jae-myung and to influence next year's general election for the National Assembly, engaging in false agitation.
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, "Leader Lee is under investigation by the prosecution for serious criminal charges, not on a picnic outing," adding, "I recall former leader Song Young-gil's appearance in May when he voluntarily showed up at the prosecution without being summoned," starting his remarks.
This statement criticized the fact that the prosecution notified Lee to appear on the 30th as a suspect in the bribery allegations related to Ssangbangwool's remittance to North Korea, but Lee initially agreed to appear on that day and then reportedly rescheduled and decided not to appear.

Kim then said, "Yesterday evening, the Democratic Party held a candlelight vigil in the National Assembly to stop the discharge of Fukushima contaminated water," adding, "The pathetic behavior of the Democratic Party turning the hall of people's will into a hall of rumors is a d?j? vu of the mad cow disease rumors." He continued, "In 2008, we experienced considerable conflict due to mad cow disease rumors, and in 2017 due to THAAD rumors, causing innocent citizens to suffer enormous financial damage," and said, "The Democratic Party must immediately stop its anti-national acts that destroy fishermen and livelihoods through fake news and false agitation for protecting leader Lee and the election."
Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader, also said, "From the perspective of neighboring countries, the discharge of contaminated water is not a welcome event," but added, "However, since international verification has been conducted through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is an important time to respond diplomatically and ensure maximum safety."

He then pointed out, "The Democratic Party seems to have been waiting for this moment and is now starting full-scale street protests," adding, "While the Innovation Committee is in disarray and factional conflicts within the party are reaching a peak, and internal control is shaken due to judicial risks against the party leader, the escape route they chose is reckless anti-Japan agitation."
He continued, "I emphasize again that there is abundant scientific evidence that Fukushima contaminated water does not affect our waters," and rebutted, "Inciting public anxiety as if our fisheries will collapse if the discharge occurs is practically no different from a boycott movement against our seafood."
