The drill was conducted assuming a terrorist incident caused by illegal drones near the 4th runway on the northwest side of Incheon Airport. The focus was on understanding each agency's responsibilities and roles and establishing a rapid response system. Specifically, the drill included detecting illegal drones through the drone detection system, real-time tracking and broadcasting of illegal drone movement paths, searching for and neutralizing illegal drones along their movement routes.
Based on the drill results, the corporation plans to establish detailed response procedures for drone terrorism preparedness and specify the usage conditions of radio blocking devices for neutralizing illegal drones.
Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, stated, “As threats of drone terrorism targeting national key facilities such as airports are increasing recently, we plan to revise the drone terrorism response manual and regularly conduct realistic drills to provide safer airport services.”
