At this briefing session, 33 participants, including students benefiting from the project and online pre-registrants hoping for employment, met with current employees from four in vitro diagnostics companies: Ewone Biotech, Genolution, Suzentec, and Wells Bio. Notably, the increased interest in the in vitro diagnostics field after COVID-19 was reflected by pre-registrations from 19 universities.

In the first part, presentations and Q&A sessions were held regarding each company’s introduction, vision, recruitment plans, and desired talent profiles. Attendees asked questions about essential matters for recruitment, such as ‘key competencies required for job performance’ and ‘whether job-related certifications are necessary.’ In particular, Wells Bio emphasized in response to students’ questions about important competencies for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) roles, stating, “Quality control work is a crucial process that verifies the quality of products manufactured by producers in advance, so both meticulousness and a passion for learning are important.”

The second part involved students being divided into groups to have face-to-face consultations with HR representatives from the four companies. Current employees from each company reviewed students’ resumes and self-introduction letters and provided advice on interview techniques and the qualifications needed to grow as talent in the in vitro diagnostics field.

Genolution specifically mentioned, “There are limitations to understanding the true nature of applicants by only looking at resumes and self-introduction letters,” adding, “Students should actively introduce their own competencies during interviews using these documents.” One participating student said, “This briefing session allowed me to understand various roles in the in vitro diagnostics field,” and added, “I realized that quick understanding of job roles and corresponding preparation are necessary for successful employment.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Bio Association plans to continue its support to resolve workforce mismatches in the bio sector by holding the ‘2023 Bio Company Recruitment Briefing Session’ at the Yangjae aT Center on the 1st of next month in collaboration with Saramin, following last month’s ‘2023 Bio Field Job Briefing Session for University Students’ and this ‘2023 Customized Workforce Training Project for the In Vitro Diagnostics Field Recruitment Briefing Session.’
