On the 21st, Pohang City held the launch ceremony of the ‘Hydrogen Industry Council’ at the city hall's medium conference room, attended by Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang, as well as experts in the hydrogen field from companies, schools, research institutes, and public institutions.
At the launch ceremony, appointment letters were presented to 20 members of the ‘Hydrogen Industry Council,’ who will collaborate on Pohang City's hydrogen industry. The Hydrogen Industry Council is an industry-academia-research-government consultative body consisting of experts from hydrogen-related companies, schools, research institutes, and public institutions, playing various roles for Pohang City to leap forward as a global hydrogen energy innovation city.
Starting with the launch ceremony, the council plans to continuously engage in ▲exchange of ongoing projects and research by sector ▲identification of core technology development and institutional issues ▲proposal of hydrogen policies ▲discussion on directions for early establishment of Pohang’s hydrogen ecosystem ▲and ongoing discussions on current hydrogen industry issues.
Additionally, the council will participate in the 2023 Pohang International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Forum scheduled for October, operating a Pohang City promotional booth to inform attending companies and research institutions about Pohang’s hydrogen projects.
Furthermore, through site visits to facilities such as the hydrogen fuel cell certification center, ammonia demonstration facility, and fuel cell power plants, the council aims to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the hydrogen industry, while participating in various forums to propose development directions for Pohang City's hydrogen industry.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “Through active communication and discussion for the development of the hydrogen industry, we will take the lead in advancing the government’s aggressively promoted hydrogen economy policies.” He added, “We will mobilize all our capabilities to sophisticate the hydrogen energy industry ecosystem and grow Pohang City into a global eco-friendly hydrogen economy hub.”
