Recruitment of Participants for Residential Environment Improvement Project for Safe and Comfortable Semi-basement Housing Until September 4
Support for Housing Performance Improvement Construction and Convenience Facility Installation... Total of 10 Households, Up to 10 Million KRW Subsidy
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 21st that it will promote the ‘Dongdaemun Companion Home Repair Project’ to improve the residential environment for residents living in semi-basement houses.
The ‘Dongdaemun Companion Home Repair Project’ is a newly launched project this year to assist in home repairs for semi-basement houses with poor living conditions or flood damage caused by heavy rain. From consulting for repairs to construction execution, the project is a local win-win initiative carried out by construction companies located in Dongdaemun-gu.
The support targets a total of 10 households residing in semi-basement houses within the district, including ▲ newlyweds (within 7 years of marriage) ▲ youth (ages 18-39) ▲ households with preschool children (under 7 years old) ▲ and households that reported flood damage in Dongdaemun-gu in 2023.
The scope of support includes ‘essential construction’ to improve housing performance such as ▲ insulation ▲ waterproofing ▲ window installation ▲ and equipment works, as well as ‘optional construction’ for installing convenience facilities such as ▲ rainwater inflow prevention facilities ▲ security facilities ▲ fire safety facilities ▲ removal of internal level differences ▲ and installation of safety handrails. Up to 90% of the construction cost will be supported within a maximum of 10 million KRW per household.
When applying, the eligibility and support amount will be determined based on consulting and on-site investigation results by a ‘home repair specialist’ recommended by the Dongdaemun-gu Architects Association, considering flood damage status and housing aging.
The application period is from August 18 to September 4. Detailed information such as how to apply and required documents can be found in the announcement section on the Dongdaemun-gu website. Residents wishing to participate in the project should visit the Dongdaemun-gu Architecture Division (145 Cheonho-daero, 4th floor) with the necessary documents to apply in person.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “The residential environment is an important factor that determines the happiness and well-being of individuals and families. Through this ‘Dongdaemun Companion Home Repair Project,’ we aim to contribute to improving the quality of life of our residents through solidarity and cooperation with the local community.”
