Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has completed the ‘CCTV Safety Network Integrated Platform Linkage Construction’ project, which integrates the operation of over 4,000 Seongbuk-gu CCTVs and approximately 66,000 Seoul City CCTVs, and has officially launched the platform by signing detailed operational agreements with local police stations and fire stations.

The newly established integrated CCTV platform addresses the previous limitation where the approximately 4,000 CCTVs within Seongbuk-gu operated independently and were not linked with CCTVs from other Seoul districts. As of August this year, it enables integrated operation with the approximately 66,000 CCTVs of the ‘Seoul City CCTV Safety Center.’ Notably, Seongbuk-gu was the first among the eight targeted districts this year to complete the platform construction.

Moreover, the ‘Seongbuk-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center’ provides real-time CCTV footage to fire trucks responding to flood sites caused by heavy rain and police vehicles dispatched to urgent crime scenes. This allows police and fire station control rooms to monitor on-site CCTV footage and direct operations, significantly enhancing residents’ safety.

Since the pilot operation began at the end of July, police and fire officials have reported that “the step of separately requesting necessary CCTV footage from the district office has been eliminated, making it much faster and easier to grasp situations in real time, greatly facilitating on-site operations.”

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “By linking the CCTV safety network integrated platform, we have enabled electronic anklet location tracking in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, as well as military operation control and training support in cooperation with military units. Using the smart information technology established this time, we are doing our best to ensure residents’ safety by providing protection services for children and dementia patients, safe return services for women, and protection services for women living alone, thereby caring for socially vulnerable groups.”

He added, “In the event of various crimes or disasters, by monitoring local CCTVs from police and fire station control rooms as well as patrol cars on duty, flexible responses and situational judgments will further enhance residents’ safety.”

The Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, the Chiefs of Seongbuk Police Station and Jongam Police Station, and the Chief of Seongbuk Fire Station agreed during the business agreement ceremony that mutual cooperation to quickly secure video information of crime and disaster scenes using security CCTVs will greatly contribute to improving residents’ safety, and signed the agreement.
