A female firefighter in Brazil has attracted attention by sharing videos of herself engaging in intense exercise while heavily pregnant. It is reported that she even did push-ups and pull-ups on the day of her delivery, surprising many.
On the 16th (local time), the British daily Mirror reported that Gabriela Andrade (34), a firefighter from Esp?rito Santo, Brazil, gave birth to a healthy son after performing intense exercise on the day of delivery.
According to the report, Gabriela has been consistently exercising and did not stop even after becoming pregnant.
During the 40 weeks from pregnancy to childbirth, she shared videos on her Instagram of herself working out with her husband.
The videos she posted show her doing squats and pull-ups with a heavily pregnant belly. There is even a scene where she does push-ups at a fast pace despite her swollen belly almost touching the ground. Along with the video, Gabriela said, "I was 40 weeks pregnant."
When some netizens expressed concern about the safety of the fetus after watching the videos, Gabriela explained, "I exercised with the doctor's permission." She added, "Being pregnant cannot interfere with my strict exercise routine."
One day after posting the late-pregnancy workout video, Gabriela announced that she had given birth to a healthy second son.
When she shared the news on her Instagram, saying, "My son Mateus was born exactly on the due date," the post received more than 55,000 likes and over 2,000 comments. She currently has more than 130,000 followers.
Netizens responded with messages of support and encouragement such as "Congratulations," "Truly amazing," and "You have inspired all of us."
Gabriela said, "I hope many women can boost their self-esteem and take care of their health through exercise," adding, "I feel happy and honored that my example serves as motivation."
