Gyeonggi Province was selected as an excellent case in 3 out of 6 categories in the '2023 Address Policy Promotion and Autonomous Building Number Plate Best Practices Contest' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
In June, Gyeonggi Province submitted 10 excellent promotional cases and 4 excellent autonomous building number plate cases to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's contest after conducting its own internal competition.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety received a total of 128 entries across 6 categories from 17 cities and provinces, and selected the best cases in each category through a first round of expert review and a second round of public evaluation.
In this contest, Gyeonggi Province achieved the best results among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide by being selected as an excellent case in three categories: multilingual promotional materials (Bucheon City), autonomous building number plates for residential buildings (Hanam City), and non-residential buildings (Pyeongtaek City).
Bucheon City was recognized for contributing to the settlement of foreign residents by producing two types of promotional comics in four languages that explain the principles of road name addresses, the concept of detailed addresses, and application methods.
Autonomous building number plates are number plates made and installed directly by building owners. They can be freely designed in size, material, and style to suit the building owner’s taste and harmonize with the building’s exterior and surrounding environment, including the road name and building number.
Hanam City’s autonomous building number plate (residential) at '8, Misagangbyeon-ro 354beon-gil, Hanam-si' was praised for its harmonious design, featuring a building name combining family members’ names and a font symbolizing space.
Pyeongtaek City’s autonomous building number plate (non-residential) at '256, Ihwa-ro, Pyeongtaek-si' used the road name address as the caf? name, making it easy for users to find, and received high marks for its excellent nighttime readability due to lighting effects.
Gyeonggi Province plans to publish the selected best cases on the Address Information Portal and share them as address policy promotional materials with local governments and public institutions nationwide.
