Dobong-gu, Training Female Home Repair Technicians

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) operates the women's technical school "Home Repair Technician Training Course" to help women independently fix broken door handles and perform home repairs on their own.

This initiative aims to enhance self-repair skills among women in the community through practical home repair skills education necessary for daily life.

The "Home Repair Technician Training Course" is offered quarterly at the Dobong Women’s Center, divided into introductory and advanced levels. After completing the advanced course, participants engage in free repair field training serving socially vulnerable groups.

The lectures are led by Jang Young-bok, CEO of the Housing Welfare Cooperative, who provides hands-on training that can be immediately applied in everyday life.

The first step, the "Home Repair Introductory Course," will be held twice on August 19 and 26. This introductory course includes safety training on tool usage and teaches simple tasks such as replacing fluorescent lights, door handles, and bathroom fixtures. The advanced course covers repairs related to electricity, windows, boilers, and sinks.

Additionally, the district plans to support "Women-Only Home Repair Service Startups" through separate training for graduates interested in cooperative entrepreneurship.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "In addition to education, the district provides women-only home repair services so that women living alone, who often feel unsafe, can live comfortably at home. We will continue to make greater efforts in job creation and entrepreneurship education so that more women can live independently and securely within the community."
