Long Wig and Skirt... Why Did a Thai Dad Cross-Dress to Take His Daughter to School?

Single Dad Who Adopted Daughter Alone Without Mom
Dresses as Woman to Attend 'Mother's Day' School Event

A story of a Thai father who dressed as a woman to attend the 'Mother's Day' event at his daughter's school is touching netizens around the world.

On the 15th (local time), according to Thai media outlets such as Thai Rath, Thai man Joy (48) is raising his 15-year-old daughter Cream alone without her mother. The daughter's school held an event on the 12th to celebrate 'Mother's Day.' Worried that his daughter might feel discouraged without her mother, Joy wore a long wig and a checkered dress to attend the event in women's clothing. Local media reported that Joy is a teacher of physical education and health at his daughter's school.

Joy's daughter Cream saw her father dressed as a woman sitting on a chair at the event and smiled brightly. Cream soon snuggled into her father's arms and hugged him tightly, and Joy opened his arms wide to embrace his daughter and then kissed her on the forehead. Joy posted a video of this moment on social media (SNS) with the caption, "If a mother must attend on Mother's Day, I can be the mother for you."

What is even more touching is that Joy adopted Cream. In an interview with local media, Joy said, "We talked together about what to do for this 'Mother's Day.' I didn't want my daughter to feel neglected, and I want her to be happy. Because I love my daughter, dressing as a woman was not embarrassing at all." He also added, "I am not her biological father and I am a single dad, but I love my daughter like my own child," and "I will do my best to take care of her."

Joy's daughter Cream said, "This year on Parents' Day, I want to tell my father that I love him," and "I am thankful that my father raised me and made me happy. This life feels like it lacks nothing." She also said, "I am very happy that my dad even dressed as a woman for the 'Mother's Day' event," and "My dad looked very beautiful and cute, and I was not embarrassed at all."

Their video has recorded over 378,000 views and received more than 35,000 'likes' as of the 16th. Thai netizens who heard the story responded with comments such as "Both father and daughter are lovely," and "It's touching. This is true love."

Thailand's 'Mother's Day,' celebrated every year on August 12, is the birthday of Queen Sirikit (92), the queen consort of the late King Rama IX who passed away in 2016, and the mother of the current King Maha. In Thailand, this day is designated as a public holiday and celebrated.

Meanwhile, as concerns have been raised that the Thai 'Mother's Day' event may hurt children without mothers, some schools have even abolished the event.
