Once You Sign Up, You Can Receive Nationwide Crackdown Alerts
An English notification service for illegal parking enforcement has been introduced for the first time in Yongsan, an area with many foreigners. Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 17th that starting from the 10th, it has launched an ‘Integrated Parking Enforcement Notification Service’ that informs drivers via their mobile phones about violations and enforcement targets before illegal parking enforcement.
Since September 2019, the district has independently operated a text notification service that guides drivers to move their vehicles when parked in CCTV-monitored enforcement zones. However, the notification was limited to vehicles registered in the area, making illegal parking enforcement activities inevitably limited, and there was inconvenience as separate applications were required to receive notification services from other regions.
Moreover, despite the regional characteristic of having many foreign residents, the notification service was provided only in Korean, making it difficult for foreigners to accurately understand enforcement situations.
The new enforcement notification service allows users to receive enforcement alerts from affiliated local governments nationwide with a single registration. In particular, reflecting the reality of increasing foreign drivers, an ‘English notification’ feature has been introduced for the first time. When the notification language setting is changed to English, users can receive basic text messages and app push notifications in English. Additionally, a ‘voice notification’ feature is provided to consider socially vulnerable groups, and various services for drivers such as nearby parking lot checks, fine inquiries, and payments are supported through the app.
To apply for the ‘Integrated Parking Enforcement Notification Service,’ search for ‘Integrated Parking Enforcement’ on the Yongsan-gu website search bar or install the related app through the smartphone ‘Play Store’ or ‘App Store’ and then subscribe to the service.
Regardless of residence, up to two vehicle owners or users can be registered, and after subscription, enforcement notifications for newly added areas can be received without separate applications. However, notifications are restricted in immediate enforcement zones such as ▲crosswalks ▲sidewalks ▲children protection zones ▲bus stops ▲on-site enforcement ▲report enforcement, and vehicles confirmed for illegal parking will be fined regardless of whether they receive enforcement notifications.
