Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, Officially Kicks Off Preparations for the ‘28th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival’ to be Held This October
On the 16th, Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, held a departmental progress meeting for the 28th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival and began full-scale preparations.
This year’s Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival will be held for three days from October 13 to 15 around the Amsa-dong archaeological site in Seoul. As it has established itself as one of Seoul’s top three festivals, it is expected to attract many residents.
In particular, the theme of this festival is ‘Prehistory: Hada,’ which means ‘to gift’ the festival to the residents and also reflects the meaning and value of the ‘prehistoric era,’ a period with few remaining records. The festival is filled with unique and distinctive performances, exhibitions, and hands-on programs, prepared to be richer and more enjoyable than ever before.
The festival will feature stages with famous celebrities at the opening and closing ceremonies, fireworks, special prehistoric-themed experiences such as ‘Prehistoric Barbecue Experience’ and ‘Archaeology Experience School,’ as well as various programs and theme zones that families can enjoy together, including the ‘Prehistoric Scavenger Hunt’ (treasure hunt + escape room) and ‘Bittonchide Park’ (bushcraft, wind art).
Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “We have prepared this festival more meaningfully to offer a special and mysterious experience that takes you back 6,000 years to the prehistoric era. I hope everyone will come in the cool autumn weather to fully enjoy the charm of Gangdong-gu.”
