Comprehensive content media company Chorokbaem Media announced on the 17th that it has signed a drama supply contract worth 15.4 billion KRW with MBC for the drama "Yeolnyeo Bakssi Gyeyak Gyeolhondyeon." This amount corresponds to 7.99% of last year's sales. With this, the total amount Chorokbaem Media has secured in orders for the third quarter is expected to reach approximately 61.6 billion KRW, following "7-in-ui Talchul."
MBC’s Friday-Saturday mini-series "Yeolnyeo Bakssi Gyeyak Gyeolhondyeon" is based on the web novel of the same name by writer Kim Neoul. The drama tells the story of Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), a conservative yet desire-filled 19th-century woman who transcends death to arrive in 2023 South Korea, and Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk), a 21st-century ultimate emotionless man, and their contract marriage.
The original "Yeolnyeo Bakssi Gyeyak Gyeolhondyeon" was also adapted into a Naver webtoon, which received high praise and ranked highly during its serialization, proving its popularity. The drama, aiming to air in the second half of this year, has cast top young stars including Lee Se-young, Bae In-hyuk, Yoo Seon-ho, and Joo Hyun-young.
Additionally, director Park Sang-hoon, known for his stylish direction in "My Secret Terrius" and "Radiant Office," and writer Go Nam-jung, who creatively portrayed bold imaginations with witty writing in "Wife Scandal - The Wind Blows," have joined forces, raising expectations for the work even higher.
A representative from Chorokbaem Media stated, "Yeolnyeo Bakssi Gyeyak Gyeolhondyeon is a romantic comedy drama in the fusion historical genre with a time-slip element," adding, "Since time-slip is a frequently used theme in historical dramas, depicting it in this drama will offer visually much more diverse and interesting experiences."
He continued, "With this supply contract, Chorokbaem Media plans to present about eight drama lineups this year," and added, "We will do our best to produce more than eight lineups, which is the largest number ever, by the end of the year, exceeding our original target."
