Praises Goodwill in Diplomatic Tour and ROK-US-Japan Summit Talks

Former President Park Geun-hye called President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 16th to offer her condolences and pray for the repose of the late Professor Yoon Ki-jung, Honorary Professor at Yonsei University.

A presidential office official told reporters at the funeral hall of Sinchon Severance Hospital that day, "Former President Park called around 7 p.m.," confirming this.

The official added, "Former President Park expressed condolences on the passing of her father and intended to visit in person to pay respects, but her condition worsened significantly, so she was unable to attend in person. She said she was very sorry."

In response, President Yoon said, "No, I am truly grateful just for your thoughts. I was worried about you traveling such a long distance by car, so please do not overexert yourself," and added, "Please take good care of your health," the official added.

Former President Park also said, "I have been closely following President Yoon’s diplomatic tours. I feel proud and honored," and added, "I hope the upcoming trilateral summit between Korea, the U.S., and Japan goes well."

Earlier, former President Lee Myung-bak visited the funeral hall with his wife Kim Yoon-ok the previous afternoon to pay respects. Former President Moon Jae-in sent a floral tribute and conveyed his condolences through a phone call with Chief Secretary Kim Dae-gi.
