The Democratic Party of Korea Central Committee held the 9th Party Affairs Committee meeting on the 16th and appointed Heo So (53) as the chairman of Daegu Jungnang-gu, Shin Donghwan (52) as the chairman of Daegu Buk-gu Eul, and Lee Junhyuk (53) as the chairman of Daegu Dalseo-byeong.
Heo So, who was appointed as the chairman of the Daegu Jungnang-gu regional committee, previously served as the head of the Public Opinion Survey Team at the Democratic Party Central Committee's Strategic Planning Bureau, and as the secretary-general of the Daegu City Party. He also worked as an administrative officer in the Political Planning Secretariat of President Roh Moo-hyun's Office and as an administrative officer in the National Policy Planning Office of President Moon Jae-in's Secretariat. Additionally, he served as the planning director for Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party. He ran for the 21st general election in the Daegu Dalseo-eul constituency but was defeated.
Shin Donghwan, chairman of Daegu Buk-gu Eul, previously served as an adjunct professor in the Computer Information Department at Yeongjin College and as CEO of Network Korea. Currently, he is a reviewer for the Startup Promotion Agency under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and a member of the Daegu City Architecture Committee. In the 8th local elections, he ran for Daegu City Council and received 25% of the vote.
Lee Junhyuk, chairman of Daegu Dalseo-byeong, graduated from Yeungnam University in Daegu and the College of Dentistry at Wonju University in Gangneung. He previously served as the head of the Professional Committee of the Democratic Party Daegu City Party and as the vice chairman of the Central Party Policy Committee during the leadership of party representatives Lee Nak-yeon and Song Young-gil. Currently, he is the director of Yeonje Dental Clinic and serves as the head of the Daegu branch of the Central Party Supporters Association.
The Democratic Party Daegu City Party plans to prepare for next year's general election together with the three appointed regional chairmen. Starting with the ongoing budget policy consultations for the nine districts and counties of Daegu, a regional chairmen workshop will be held on September 6 to share preparations for the general election and the current situation.
