Saving Energy with Hot Summer Cool Style! On the 16th, at the first-floor lobby of Seocho District Office, district office employees are showcasing cool attire uniforms during the 'Cool Attire (Cool Mapshi) Workwear Campaign'.

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) has launched various energy saving campaigns to overcome the summer energy crisis in celebration of the 20th Energy Day (August 22).

The district prepared this ‘Energy Saving Campaign’ to resolve the power shortage caused by the surge in electricity demand due to consecutive heatwaves and late summer heat, and to respond to the climate crisis through everyday energy saving practices.

First, on the 16th, the district held a ‘Cool Dress Code Workwear Campaign’ for all employees in the first-floor lobby of the district office. The campaign aims to lower the perceived temperature with cool attire, thereby improving employees’ work efficiency and achieving a twofold effect of energy saving.

On that day, employees holding signs with energy saving slogans showcased cool work attire by not wearing neckties and wearing wide pants or shorts. Additionally, eco-friendly paper ‘Energy Saving Promotional Fans’ were distributed to encourage active participation in energy saving.

On the 18th, from 2 to 4 p.m., a 150-person ‘Energy Saving Campaign,’ including the Seoul Companion Group, will be held at Baramui Undeok Square near Exit 9 of Gangnam Station. The campaign will feature a ‘flash mob’ with energy saving messages, a street campaign visiting nearby stores to encourage practices such as refraining from cooling with open doors, and a ‘Cool Dress Code Photo Event.’

In particular, the ‘Cool Dress Code Photo Event’ is open to Seocho-gu residents and local workers. Participants can wear cool clothes such as shorts and sleeveless tops, take photos at the photo zone, and upload their energy saving pledges on the district office website. One hundred participants will be selected by lottery to receive beverage gifticons.

Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “I hope everyone spends the hot summer wisely with cool dress and helps protect the global environment through energy saving. We will continue to promote energy saving campaigns so that small daily practices by residents can collectively become a great force in overcoming the climate crisis.”
