Dongjak-gu Distributes Disaster Relief Tents by Neighborhood for Disaster Preparedness

Distribution of ‘Disaster Relief Tents’ to all 15 neighborhoods to support victims in complex disaster situations such as fires and floods

Each neighborhood will be equipped with 10 relief tents for 3-4 people to prepare for complex disasters

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced on the 16th that it will distribute ‘disaster relief tents’ to all 15 neighborhoods to support victims in complex disaster situations such as fires and floods.

Assuming situations with multiple victims, more than 10 easy-to-install and dismantle, sag-free one-touch tents for 3-4 people will be stocked in each neighborhood.

This decision was made swiftly as a follow-up measure to the villa fire that occurred in Sangdo 3-dong at the end of last month.

The fire caused 21 victims from 8 households, and temporary shelter was provided to 2 households (3 people) who could not secure temporary accommodation.

Until now, relief equipment for victims in each neighborhood was severely insufficient, and most of the tents owned were for single occupancy, limiting the capacity to accommodate large numbers of victims.

The tents are scheduled to be distributed to each neighborhood in September, and the district is also considering distributing surplus emergency relief sets (130 units) it currently holds to the neighborhoods.

Additionally, the district established a cooperative system with the directly managed Clean Mobile Unit and cleaning specialist companies to collect fire debris from the villa fire and promptly completed the debris removal.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “The provision of relief tents will contribute to providing stable temporary shelter for victims in complex disaster situations,” and added, “We will continue to proactively prepare measures to protect residents against disasters.”
