The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency will continue special crackdowns on drunk driving by region until September 9.
According to the provincial police agency, this special crackdown will take place for one month starting from the 8th.
So far, there have been 432 suspected drunk driving 112 reports in the province, of which 359 cases resulted in license cancellations and 73 cases in license suspensions.
The days with the highest number of detections are Friday and Saturday, totaling 166 cases, and the time frame with the most cases is between 10 PM and 2 AM the following day, reaching 213 cases.

The provincial police agency is conducting joint crackdowns by dividing the areas with high road connectivity mainly in urban areas into five regions.
The five regions are ▲ Changwon area (Changwon Jungbu, Changwon Seobu, Jinhae) ▲ Masan area (Masan Jungbu, Masan Dongbu) ▲ Gimhae area (Gimhae Jungbu, Gimhae Seobu) ▲ Geoje area (Geoje, Tongyeong).
Police stations outside these regions conduct regular crackdowns in areas with frequent suspected drunk driving 112 reports such as restaurant districts, entertainment districts, highway toll booths, and rest areas.
Every Friday and Saturday, all police stations in the province conduct coordinated crackdowns day and night, with traffic police, local police, the provincial police agency’s mobile crackdown team, and the police mobile unit working together.
A representative of the provincial police agency said, “To mark the peak of the summer vacation season, we have deployed the provincial mobile crackdown team and police mobile unit around tourist spots and summer resorts to conduct surprise regional drunk driving crackdowns,” adding, “Drunk driving can lead to major accidents, and the victims could be your own family, so do not drive if you have had even one drink.”
