Suncheon City Hosts the 6th Namhaean Namjung Region Culture and Arts Festival

Exhibition, Youth Festival, and Si-Gun Exchange Performances, etc.

The 6th Namhaean Southern Central Region Culture and Arts Festival, hosted by the Namhaean Southern Central Region Development Council (Chairman, Boseong County Governor) and organized by the Suncheon Federation of Arts, will be held for three days from the 15th to the 17th at the Suncheon Bay Ecological Culture Education Center.

This event is an arts festival involving nine local governments belonging to the Namhaean Belt to promote harmony in the region. It features various programs such as an art exchange exhibition showcasing works that fully reflect the characteristics of each area, inter-city and county exchange performances, and a youth festival.

The commemorative ceremony on the 15th will begin with a traditional drum performance, followed by a themed performance and a classical congratulatory concert centered on Suncheon Bay. After the ceremony, the youth festival will take place, including dance performances by youths from the nine cities and counties, a writing contest, and a drawing competition.

On the 16th, diverse cultural exchange performances by art groups from the nine cities and counties are scheduled. During the culture and arts festival, experience booths themed on carbon neutrality and promotional booths selling local specialties from the nine cities and counties will also be operated.

A Suncheon city official said, "We are pleased to host this meaningful event, which symbolizes the harmony of the Namhaean Belt, in Suncheon. Through this culture and arts festival, we hope to create a new culture unique to the Namhaean Southern Central Region and foster diverse exchanges and cooperation not only in the cultural and arts fields but also in economic industries such as secondary batteries and space."

Meanwhile, the Namhaean Southern Central Region Development Council is a metropolitan council comprising nine local governments: five from Jeollanam-do?Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangyang, Goheung, and Boseong?and four from Gyeongsangnam-do?Jinju, Sacheon, Namhae, and Hadong. The Namhaean Southern Central Region Culture and Arts Festival, now in its sixth year, is held annually on a rotating basis among the cities and counties.
