Actro, a smartphone camera component company led by CEO Ha Dong-gil, announced on the 14th that it has successfully turned profitable in the second quarter of this year.
On a consolidated basis, cumulative sales for the second quarter reached 61.3 billion KRW, showing a slight increase compared to the previous year, and both operating profit and net income turned positive. Operating profit for the first half of this year was 92 million KRW, and net income was 1.7 billion KRW. Notably, operating profit for the second quarter alone was 790 million KRW.
Actro cited the main factors for the improved second-quarter performance as increased operating rates at its second factory in Vietnam, enhanced overall cost competitiveness, and components for foldable phones. Actro supplies camera OIS actuators for the recently launched Galaxy foldable phones, and the increased demand for these components drove the improvement in profit margins.
Actro is optimistic about its performance in the second half of the year. A company representative stated, "We expect the upward trend in performance to continue as sales increase from expanded production volumes of folded zoom components for the next flagship model and from performance inspection equipment."
Along with the recovery of its existing OEM business performance, Actro is actively diversifying its business. In particular, a semiconductor package inspection device utilizing terahertz wave technology has completed its prototype and is currently undergoing full-scale testing. Additionally, the graphene coating equipment business for silicon used in anode materials is accelerating toward commercialization.
An Actro representative said, “While solidifying our position in the smartphone camera component business, including foldable phones, we will do our best to enhance corporate value through continuous business diversification.”
