SBS Drama 'Akgui' Kim Woo-jin Role
Actress Kim Shin-bi (30) is walking on a path of success. She made a strong impression on the public with writer Kim Eun-hee's 'The Ghost.' Playing Kim Woo-jin, the reliable friend of Oh Jung-se's character and a gumiho, she was also cast in the Ma Dong-seok-led film 'The Outlaws 4,' with filming completed. This actress, who has long been hotly spotlighted in the independent film scene, is showing remarkable momentum.
Recently, Kim Shin-bi met with Asia Economy at a location in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. She said, "I didn't expect to pass the audition for 'The Ghost,' so I was very happy when I got the acceptance call," adding, "I kept asking again because I couldn't believe it." She recalled, "After that, my mind was completely filled with thoughts of 'The Ghost.'"
In SBS's 12-episode Friday-Saturday drama 'The Ghost,' which ended on the 29th of last month, Kim Shin-bi first appeared as Kim Woo-jin, the cohabitant of Oh Jung-se (playing Yeom Hae-sang). Later, as her identity as a gumiho was revealed, she played a key role in the swirling events.
Oh Jung-se, who worked closely with her throughout, is a fellow member of the same agency, 프레인TPC, and a senior actor. Kim Shin-bi expressed her gratitude, saying, "Oh Jung-se approached me first and treated me comfortably." She added, "The senior spoke to me first on set and joked around, which helped ease my tension a lot."
During the airing of 'The Ghost,' the reactions around her were also intense. Kim Shin-bi said, "Since it's a mystery thriller genre, many people said it was scary," and "I received a lot of support."
When asked whose reaction was the most impressive, she pointed to her family. Kim Shin-bi said, "My parents said, 'We didn't know you had this kind of image. It was the first time we realized it,' which made me happy."
'The Ghost' was written by writer Kim Eun-hee and produced by BA Entertainment and Studio S. Kim Shin-bi said, "I enjoyed Kim Eun-hee's 'Kingdom.' I found its thematic depth and richness impressive."
After graduating from high school, Kim Shin-bi immediately enlisted and fulfilled her military duty. While performing at military entertainment shows, her curiosity about acting grew on stage.
Kim Shin-bi, who debuted in 2019 with 'Iceberg' and gained attention in the independent film scene, held the 'Kim Shin-bi Actor Exhibition' in 2021 by compiling the short films she appeared in. She stood out through the short film 'Peter Pan's Dream,' which swept domestic and international film festivals.
Meeting her agency, 프레인TPC, gave her wings. She showed her presence as the rookie Im Yong-il in the SBS drama 'Cheer Up' and appeared consecutively on the small screen with 'The Ghost.'
She said, "Acting is fun. It's enjoyable when I discover aspects of a character I didn't know or realize parts I missed while reading the script." She added, "I have learned a lot as my environment changed, and I have developed a sense of responsibility."
Kim Shin-bi said, "I want to be a respectable actress." She vowed, "I want to act until I die." When asked about the charm of acting, she mentioned 'Gong Yoo.' She added, "I like sharing emotions with the public."
When asked about the most rewarding moment as an actress, Kim Shin-bi said, "When viewers who watched the works I appeared in change." She said, "I believe content can change the world."
She revealed her goal as an actress, saying, "I want to be an actor who is close to people and gives a good influence."
