Dongjak-gu Hosts 'Kkamangdol Festival'

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced that the '2023 Kkamangdol Festival' will be held at Kkamangdol Library (129 Seodal-ro) on the 26th.

This year, the entire library will transform into a 'rustic (chon) library' with the summer-appropriate theme of 'Chon-cance (rural village + summer vacation)'.

Various experiential events such as ▲rural experience ▲water play zone ▲Kkamang One-day Market are prepared to match the Chon-cance theme.

At the rural experience event, participants can indirectly experience activities commonly found in the countryside, such as insect collecting and watermelon picking, through models.

The water play zone event will feature a slide pool and fishing experience area on the library rooftop to beat the summer heat in one go. The Kkamang One-day Market is a kind of flea market where residents buy and sell unused items to promote resource circulation and environmental protection.

Also, 'Meet the Authors' sessions will be held in a lecture format with authors such as Jeong Jia, who wrote 'Father's Liberation Diary,' Kim Sang-geun, famous for the picture book Mole series, and Eun Neun-i, author of 'My First Time Living in the Countryside.'

In addition, there will be a variety of rich experiences, exhibitions, and events such as ▲Kkamangdol Picture Diary ▲Traditional Rural Games ▲Writing Letters to My Childhood Self ▲Grandmother's Night Sky ▲Agricultural Book Curation ▲Creating an Eco-friendly Vegetable Garden.

The Dongjak-gu Public Kkamangdol Daycare Center and Dongjak-gu Childcare Support Center, located in the same building as Kkamangdol Library, will also participate, offering even more diverse festivities including performances by the children.

Festival news can be found through the Dongjak-gu Integrated Library and Instagram (Kkamangdol Library), and for program registration and other detailed information, please contact Kkamangdol Library.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “I hope the library will become a reading and cultural enjoyment space that approaches residents with a friendly image and enables communication,” adding, “We will continue to support the promotion of reading culture.”
