3-Year Initial Market Support Including Public Procurement Private Contracts and Pilot Purchases
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced on the 13th that it has newly designated 39 "Excellent R&D Innovative Products (hereinafter referred to as Innovative Products)" for the first half of 2023 to foster the initial market formation of excellent R&D products from small and medium enterprises and to improve the quality of public services.
The Innovative Products include 9 in health and medical fields, 8 in life safety and disaster prevention, 12 in transportation and environmental improvement, and 4 in energy saving. It was explained that excellent products from various fields that can contribute to the enhancement of public services such as promoting national health and social safety prevention have been designated.
Key products include the "CT Image Interpretation System" for early diagnosis of lung cancer and the "AI-based Metabolic Disease Analysis System" that predicts the risk of abdominal metabolic diseases in the health and medical field. In the safety and disaster prevention field, there are the "Multipurpose Portable Radiation Contamination Detector," the "Infectious Waste Sealed Packaging Processor," and the "Multifunctional IoT Gas Cock" that automatically detects gas leaks to prevent fire and explosion accidents.
During the designation period (3 years), Innovative Products can be procured through public procurement contracts without price limits via the Innovation Market, and exemption from liability applies to purchasing officers. They can also receive various sales channel support benefits such as pilot purchases by government ministries including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Public Procurement Service, as well as consultation for public institution purchases.
Kim Woo-soon, Director of Technology Innovation Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We will strengthen the discovery of innovative products, support for sales channels, and promotion so that excellent products developed through SME research and development can contribute to solving social problems and improving public services that citizens can feel.”
