"I Felt Proud as a Soldier"
A heartwarming story has been shared about a middle-aged man who secretly paid for the meals of soldiers who went out for a meal while on leave.
According to a report by Yonhap News on the 13th, five soldiers including Mr. A, who is serving in the military in Gyeongnam, went out on leave on the 10th and had a meal with colleagues at a barbecue restaurant. When they were about to pay the bill, the restaurant owner told them that a man had already paid for it. The bill was about 200,000 won at the time.
Mr. A wanted to express his gratitude. Fortunately, the restaurant owner had the contact information of the man who paid the bill.
Mr. A called the number but could not get through, so he sent a text message to express his thanks. He said, "Suddenly, the barbecue bill was paid, so I am leaving a thank-you message. The meat was very delicious. Since the amount we received was quite large, I hope you can tell us the reason why you treated us."
The citizen who paid the bill wrote, "(The amount I paid) is not large. But the part where you work hard for the country is by no means small. My son will also join the military in a few years. I paid because you, who are working hard for the country, are beautiful. I am also an insignificant person. I hope you also exert a beautiful influence in life and live a wonderful life."
Mr. A said, "It was an amazing and grateful experience that made me feel pride as a soldier. We were not acquainted at all, but just because I am a soldier, I received such great kindness, so I wanted to widely share this good deed and reported it."
