'National Sommelier' Selected 5 Wines... VinoH, 'Chinqueto Moscato d'Asti'

Participation in the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip'

Featuring Italian Sweet Wines and Australian & New Zealand Varieties

Hosted by Asia Economy, the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip' will be held on August 25-26 at the Floating Island on Sebitseom in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Major domestic wine importers and food companies will participate, providing an opportunity to taste various regional wines and enjoy food pairings. Hyundai Department Store Group’s wine import and distribution specialist, Vino.H, plans to showcase five types of wines at the event, including Italy’s cost-effective sweet wines favored by both beginners and enthusiasts, as well as newly imported wines from Australia and New Zealand.

Representative wines include 'Chinguetto Moscato d’Asti,' 'Yelland Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Reserve,' and two types of 'Kings of Prohibition' (Chardonnay and Shiraz). Chinguetto Moscato d’Asti is a brand inspired by the artwork of Alphonse Mucha, a leading figure of the Art Nouveau style in the late 19th century. It features a clear and sparkling gold color with sweet and fresh apricot and peach aromas, typical characteristics of the Moscato grape variety.

Yelland Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Reserve uses grapes grown in a beautiful area overlooking the coastline stretching along the northeastern tip of New Zealand’s South Island. Utilizing renewable energy sources and implementing sustainable farming practices to protect biodiversity, it has received numerous awards and certifications, including the world’s first Carbon Zero certification. It exhibits a sparkling yellow color with pleasant subtle floral, herbal, and grassy scents, accompanied by complex fruit flavors such as lime, citrus, grapefruit, apricot, mango, and kiwi.

The two 'Kings of Prohibition' wines refer to the "Kings of the Prohibition Era." The white wine made from Chardonnay grapes has a clear and clean straw color with complex flavors of apple, pear, white peach, dried mango, honey, nuts, and butter. It is followed by subtle pineapple and mineral aromas. The red wine made from Shiraz grapes shows a deep ruby purple color with prominent fruit flavors of cherry, plum, blueberry, blackberry, and black currant. It also offers complex nuances of herbs, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, leather, tobacco, pepper, licorice, and eucalyptus.

Meanwhile, Vino.H is a wine import and distribution company established by Hyundai Department Store Group in March last year. The company name combines the Italian word for wine, 'Vino,' and the first letter 'H' of 'Hyundai.' The CEO is Song Ki-beom, a former chief sommelier at Hyundai Green Food and a 'national representative sommelier.' He currently serves as the vice president of the Korea International Sommelier Association and holds significant recognition and influence in the domestic wine industry.
