Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their active cooperation in disaster response to Typhoon 'Khanun' through a letter of appreciation posted on the city hall website on the 11th.
Typhoon No. 6 'Khanun' brought heavy rain to the Changwon area, with an average of 259.5mm (maximum 329.8mm in Seongsan District) over two days from the 9th to the 10th, but there were no casualties.
In the letter, Mayor Hong stated, "Despite the record-breaking heavy rain in the region, overcoming it without major damage was possible because the citizens endured inconveniences and followed pre-control and evacuation measures. I extend my deep gratitude to each and every citizen."
At the executive meeting, Mayor Hong also commended the efforts of the staff involved in responding to Typhoon Khanun and ordered prompt restoration of the affected areas and thorough analysis of the causes to establish fundamental measures to prevent recurrence.
