Producers Set Fair Prices for Agricultural Products

Purchase High-Quality New Rice at Reasonable Prices

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that from August 10 to 23, for 14 days, it will promote the first-ever pre-order sales event for the 2023 new rice harvest among local governments nationwide.

Goheung-gun boasts natural conditions favorable for early harvesting and shipment of various agricultural products such as rice, onions, and peaches, thanks to abundant sunlight and mild temperatures.

This new rice pre-order event will be held on Goheung Mall, Naver Smart Store, TMON, and traditional market platforms. Pre-order buyers will receive an immediate 5,000 KRW discount coupon, free shipping, and various prize draw events, allowing them to purchase high-quality new rice at reasonable prices.

The new rice, processed on the same day, will begin sequential delivery from August 28, after the pre-order period ends. General sales will be conducted from August 25 until before Chuseok, with a total supply of 70,000 bags secured so that many consumers can enjoy Goheung new rice.

Governor Gong Yeong-min said regarding the pre-order event, "Not only has Goheung-gun secured a leading position in the new rice market, but it has also gained control over rice sales pricing," adding, "We will do our best to establish a system where producers can determine appropriate prices for agricultural products in the long term."

Cho Seong-moon, head of Heungyang Nonghyup, stated, "Improving the rice quality and creating a specialized early-ripening rice cultivation complex for new rice commercialization have shown significant effects," and added, "We will actively cooperate to scale up the new rice cultivation complex, including the approximately 1,000 farms currently under contract cultivation."

A county official said, "This event is not only about securing rice sales channels and increasing farmers' income but also serves as an opportunity and driving force for Goheung Mall, the county-operated online shopping mall, and farmers to grow and develop together," emphasizing, "We will continue to do our best to widely promote our county’s high-quality and delicious agricultural, marine, and specialty products and expand various consumer bases."
