Dong-Eui University College of Korean Medicine Conducts Summer Medical Volunteer Activities in Gyeongnam

The College of Korean Medicine at Dong-Eui University conducted a summer medical volunteer activity called the "Visiting Donguibogam (Dong-Eui University College of Korean Medicine Health Preservation and Empathy) Clinic" from July 16 to 28 during the summer vacation period in Jeongdong-myeon, Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam; Samga-myeon, Hapcheon-gun; and Jangmok-myeon, Geoje-si.


This year’s volunteer activity involved about 80 students and faculty advisors from three Korean medicine clubs: Daetbaram, Chimmak, and Hwangjido Yeonsuk. They provided various treatments and consultations, including acupuncture and moxibustion procedures, physical therapy, herbal medicine prescriptions, and guidance on Korean medicine knowledge to approximately 700 local residents.


Daetbaram conducted volunteer activities from July 16 to 21 in Jeongdong-myeon, Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam; Chimmak from July 17 to 21 in Samga-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam; and Hwangjido Yeonsuk from July 23 to 28 in Jangmok-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongnam.

The College of Korean Medicine’s summer Korean medicine volunteer activities have been held annually since 1991 to promote the health of elderly residents in medically underserved areas and to enhance understanding of Korean medicine among prospective healthcare professionals.


Student Oh Ji-won, who participated in this volunteer activity, said, “It was an opportunity to increase my sense of responsibility and calling as a future healthcare professional,” adding, “I will continue to strive to help local residents enjoy healthy lives through various volunteer activities utilizing my major knowledge.”
