The People Power Party harshly criticized the innovation plan announced by the Democratic Party's Innovation Committee on the 11th, calling it a measure for Lee Jae-myung's hardcore supporters known as 'Gaeddal.' The day before, the Democratic Party's Innovation Committee proposed abolishing the delegate vote in the party leader election, increasing the weight of the voting rate of party members with voting rights, and strengthening the penalty for incumbent lawmakers who receive low evaluations during the nomination process.
Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, called this Democratic Party Innovation Committee the worst innovation committee in history during a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, pointing out, "The last announcement by the Democratic Party Innovation Committee reflects the will of Gaeddal tailored to the party leader's perspective, not the people's expectations."
Floor Leader Yoon criticized, "It focused more on the interests of a specific faction than on ethical reform," adding, "It is an innovation plan that accepts the claims of Lee Jae-myung's extreme supporter group Gaeddal and strengthens fandom politics, and a plan to weed out the non-mainstream faction."
Park Dae-chul, the chairman of the Policy Committee, also mocked, "It is not innovation but a primer for factionalization," and said, "The Innovation Committee is a dedication committee for one person beyond a self-preservation committee."
Lee Yang-su, the senior deputy floor leader, also evaluated, "It is a nomination rule that reduces the delegate system to favor a specific force in the leader election process, appoints strong out-of-office figures, and deliberately excludes incumbent lawmakers," interpreting, "It reflects Lee's intention to strengthen his own faction."
He continued, "The Democratic Party Innovation Committee was launched to overcome the party's crisis caused by Lee's judicial risks, the 'Jjeondae' (money envelope party convention), and the Kim Nam-guk gate, but Lee put forward an innovation plan that suits his taste through the Innovation Committee and disbanded the committee, leaving no responsibility behind."
